This half-day workshop will present a comprehensive review of the issues and challenges of reviewing requests for testing accommodations for high-stakes testing.  Topics will include:

  • Case Law Update: Legal challenges to high-stakes testing organizations
  • IDEIA vs. ADAAA: Different laws for children and adults
  • Research update
  • Documentation guidelines for accommodations requests: Best practices and thorny issues
  • Why testing agencies may find an accommodation request to be “Incomplete" and what to tell candidates
  • Communication with candidates-- especially disgruntled candidates
  • Preventing escalations from becoming crises
  • Issues to consider when reviewing accommodations requests: Test Validity, Test Security, Operational Considerations
  • Reasonable vs. Unreasonable Accommodation Requests
  • Practice Cases

Pre-conference workshops require a separate registration fee from the full conference.
