The Latest Evolution of Continuing Competence in the Health Professions

Track: Pre-Conference Workshops

Session Number: 6122
Date: Mon, Nov 18th, 2019
Time: 8:30 AM - 12:00 PM

Description:

In the certification, licensure and credentialing landscape, new developments and innovations in the recertification, revalidation and renewal areas are occurring with exceeding rapidity. Practitioner involvement and feedback in these areas has been enthusiastic and at times vociferous, and it is clear that they are especially interested in the benefits and costs of processes designed to enhance and document their continuing competence. At this interactive workshop, participants will learn about several newer, evidence-supported ways to recertify or renew the credentials of practitioners. The programs vary significantly in their approaches to this important credentialing function, and attendees will benefit from the real-world experiences of those involved in developing, piloting and implementing these programs. Interactivity with these credentialing industry leaders will be encouraged, both with “wandering microphones” and audience polling. Those involved in credentialing will want to hear the latest about article-based testing, longitudinal assessment, peer-assessment, test-enhanced learning, professional development provider accreditation approaches, assessment-based learning, gamification and virtual practice simulators. In addition to learning about the latest developments, attendees will learn from panel discussions about important constructs that support the various approaches to recertification, and audience participation will be encouraged throughout.

All registrants for the workshop will be provided with a complimentary copy of the Proceedings on the International Summit on Continuing Competence.

Pre-conference workshops require a separate registration fee from the full conference.
