Spreading Exam Maintenance Across the Year: Pilot Testing an Interval Maintenance Process
Track: Test Development and Administration
Once a certification program achieves accreditation, program stakeholders may expect some relief from time and resource requirements associated with intense program development activities. However, maintaining the certification program can often seem as resource intensive as initial development. In addition, SMEs may be fatigued and less motivated to be actively engaged, having completed the sprint of development and accreditation. Financial support may be decreased during the maintenance period and a myriad of other activities may have shifted to priority status. In this lightning learning session, we will discuss an interval maintenance approach that was implemented to help ease the time burden on SMEs and the resource burden of having in-person item development/review sessions – all while maintaining the relevance, performance and integrity of the certification assessment.
