A Journey to Adopt Online Proctoring for Certification Exams

Track: Standards and Accreditation

Session Number: 6114
Date: Wed, Nov 20th, 2019
Time: 4:15 PM - 5:15 PM

Description:

Many organizations are interested in adopting online proctoring as an option for their test-takers. However, in doing so they must consider several possible barriers to this adoption. The most paramount being seeking or maintaining accreditation approval for the exams delivered with the online proctoring solution.

This session will describe the journey that StateFoodSafety took to get their ANSI-accredited Food Protection Manager Certification exam approved for online proctored delivery.  Now, for the first time, persons-in-charge at food establishments can take their Food Protection Manager certification exam at home, rather than having to travel to a testing center.

Session attendees will learn the many factors that played a role in this accreditation journey, including:

  1. The buy-in from leadership and stakeholders to seek and obtain the accreditation approval for this solution.
  2. The level of partnership required by the organization and proctoring company to customize processes and training in order to meet accreditation standards.
  3. Resource considerations in seeking and maintaining accreditation using an innovative tool for exam delivery.
