How to Recruit and Nurture Your Public Member

Track: Business of Certification

Session Number: 6033
Date: Wed, Nov 20th, 2019
Time: 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM

Description:

For certification organizations, the public member role on the Board of Directors is important and special. The individual serving in this role brings a vital viewpoint and useful skills and experience from outside the organization. But, sometimes it can be challenging to find the right public member and incorporate him or her into the Board. How does an organization identify characteristics and experience that support a successful term of service for this role and contribute to the organization’s success? How does an organization recruit public members? How does the organization support a healthy and productive relationship with the individual serving in this role? What are some ways public members contribute value?  Learn answers to these questions from the CEOs and the public members from three ICE member organizations who will share their perspectives and experiences.  The session will be moderated by Rebecca (Becky) LeBuhn, formerly a public member of NCCA and the ICE Board of Directors.
