Converting to an Assessment-based Certificate for Fun and Profit!

The Human Resources Professionals Association issues three HR credentials under regulation in Ontario. One of the functions HR professionals are permitted to perform, but which is not widely practiced, is conducting workplace investigations. To add rigour to the HR credentials and in support of those HR professionals wishing to enhance their competence with workplace investigations, HRPA embarked on a process to convert an existing 3-day course into a more structured assessment-based certificate. This certificate program formally launched in 2017.
In this session we will outline the process followed in this development, including forming and validating competency statements and creation of program requirements. We will also share what worked well and what did not work well, as well as what we would do differently the next time. Finally, we will close with the impressive impact on revenue following adoption of the revised certificate program.
