Value of Certification: A Cross-Organizational Study

Since 2016, the ICE External Stakeholders Task Force has been working to identify ways to demonstrate value of credentials in the ICE community to various stakeholders. After building on the extensive work done by ICE, ABNS, and member organizations, the task force provided the opportunity to multiple organizations to join together, assisted by a contracted market research consultant, and conduct research on the value of their credentials in the market. This survey was done to investigate the following goals, among others:
- Why candidates seek a certification program;
- How does a program meet the needs of its stakeholders;
- How might certificant views help inform future marketing efforts
After receiving more than 20 applications from credentialing organizations, this research is being conducted in Spring 2019, followed by analysis. This session will be the first look by the testing community at the results of this first-ever ICE driven, multi-organization study on credentialing value. The results from this first study will help provide the ICE Exchange attendees with a unique first look at the results, as well as insight on how to participate in continued ongoing efforts by this task force.
