Update on the Update: Report on the 1100 Standard Revision
Track: Assessment-Based Certificate Programs and Microcredentials
Since its inception in 2009, the demand for accredited certificate programs has grown as professionals are increasingly seeking quality, specialized training and non-academic educational opportunities to reach their goals and advance in their careers. In January 2018, ICE initiated the process of revising the 1100 Standard for Assessment-based Certificate programs. The transparent, open standards revision process has been ongoing throughout 2018, including the culmination of a consensus committee, working groups, open public comment periods, and involvement of multiple different stakeholder groups to ensure balance and due process.
This session will provide a substantive report of these activities and update on the revised 1100 Standard as it stands in November of 2018, and reinforce the value of accreditation for assessment-based certificate programs. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions about this process and the update to the Chair of the Main Committee overseeing this effort and ICE staff.
