Blockchain and the New World of Qualification

Track: Innovations

Session Number: 5104
Date: Thu, Nov 8th, 2018
Time: 12:15 PM - 1:45 PM

This session introduces people who know little to nothing about blockchain technology to how blockchain can solve some of the credentialing industry's persistent challenges. It will cover core concepts of blockchain, such as the notion of a distributed ledger, and apply that to the possibility of a framework for managing credentialing-related activities. This talk is intended to provide the minimum level of technical foundations to start to consider the possibilities. The objective would be to portray the possibility of a universally accessible register of credentialed individuals to obviate the need to centralized credential verification. In the process of introducing the possibilities, this session will solicit from attendees their insights and concerns about participating in such as framework.
