Track: Business of Certification

Session Number: 4043
Date: Wed, Oct 25th, 2017
Time: 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM

This will be an interactive conversation with the goal of increasing participant’s awareness of the benefits of adopting accessibility standards such as WCAG 2.0 AA.

The session will begin with a brief description of the terms accessibility and accommodation.

We will then review a list of routinely requested accommodations, and ask the participants how they would deliver these accommodations.

Next we will show how each of these accommodations is directly tied to a functional requirement of WCAG 2.0 AA, what the success criteria for meeting that requirement is, and how we build that criteria into the content development.

We will then discuss how that effects the accommodation process that follows.

We will finish with a list of benefits of adopting WCAG 2.0 AA standards, and show how following this procedure of baking accessibility into development has streamlined the accommodation process.

We will offer links that participants can use to incorporate these ideas into their own development processes and make their content more accessible.
