Adapting the Exam Tutorial: New Strategies for Enhancing Examinee Success?
Track: Test Development and Administration
Innovative test items using new technology are gaining popularity in the testing industry with the intention of building more relevant examinations. Creating a tutorial to help test takers navigate in the test environment is critical but also challenging. This study examines the relationship of tutorial usage in relation to test takers’ performance on video items and test takers’ overall examination performance for pediatric cardiology certification and maintenance of certification examinations.
The study also investigates how test takers’ characteristics (e.g., gender, age, geographical location, and ethnicity) related to tutorial usage. Strategies for increasing user participation in and awareness of tutorial support are proposed.
We are interested in learning others’ strategies for enhancing their own users’ experience and performance.
