Stackable Credentials: Are They Right for Your Program?
Track: Business of Certification
In this session, the presenters will provide an overview of stackable credentials and how they can be used to help professionals continue their certification journey in a more accessible way. In most models, stackable credentials are linear such that credential expands throughout a career and higher levels of competency are demonstrated as credentials stack upon each other (entry level, mid-career, and seasoned). Therefore, as the credentials stack, they are expected to have more cognitively demanding and difficult assessment content. However, stackable credentials give programs to be creative and innovative in their approach to credentialing. For example, this concept could be leveraged in a way that allows professionals to create customized certification paths that better align to their personal goals and job responsibilities. The presenters will discuss how to design and implement a stackable credential program and provide examples from the industry and their own organizations.
